Is there a need for a men's movement? Up to 80% of those laid off in the last few months have been men. One of the things highlighted in reports I've read on the topic is that men often see their entire identity as connected to their jobs; do they need to be liberated from this perception.
When John the Baptist saw some literalist members of the orthodox church, obsessed with enforcing the law, coming toward him while he was baptizing he had this to say to them:
You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not think you can say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.Matthew 3:7-10. Certainly not very inclusive, but does this give guidance on how we should deal with modern Pharisees?
